Isuzu Reveals New Version of D-Max XTR Pick-up
Added: 24 May 2019
At Ian Grieve we’re always excited when one of the brands we work with finds a way to put a new spin on an already beloved model. Our work with Isuzu as well as other great brands like Suzuki, Jeep, Fiat and Subaru has shown us that manufacturers never stop pushing the envelope and finding subtle yet powerful ways of improving on classic designs. This spirit was embodied recently by Isuzu when the brand revealed its new version of the popular D-Max VTR Pick-up. Aside from a bold new aesthetic, the truck boasts a range of impressive improvements on the previous incarnation.
The new model further emphasises the Japanese manufacturer’s desire to combine powerful off-road performance with a new level of on-road comfort. Let’s take a look at the new D-Max XTR pickup and why we’re so excited to be able to feature her in our showrooms this year...
Hey good lookin’
Just one look at the new D-Max XTR Pick-up reveals that it means business. The front grille’s new and improved body kit features a distinctive front bumper guard, already affectionately known as the “Bane” mask in reference to the Batman villain from The Dark Knight Rises. That’s not the only part of the body kit that brings a bold and distinctive flavour to the vehicle’s aesthetic. Aside from this super cool appendage the new version also boasts a hood protector, rear bumper and tailgate spoiler, headline frames, and wheel arch extensions. The new version also boasts black door mirror covers and tinted black windows to add to the XTR’s edgy good looks. There are also a few green accents which lend the XTR a more unique flavour.
Who says beauty’s just on the outside?
For some drivers, it’s what’s inside that counts. Fortunately, the XTR also offers some clear upgrades from its predecessor in terms of interior style and comfort. XTR offers leather, suede and carbon fibre (yes, you read that right) upholstered heated front sports seats with a distinctive green contrast stitching on the side bolsters. The interior also boasts a sporty looking D-shaped steering wheel which has the same leather and suede trim as the seat as well as the distinctive green trim. Just because it’s a pick-up doesn’t mean that drivers shouldn’t get to enjoy some sporty little flourishes.
What’s new under the surface?
Aesthetic changes aren’t the only thing that distinguish the XTR from its predecessor. While the D-Max 1.9 litre diesel engine (which produces 162bhp) remains unchanged, the XTR benefits from raised Pedders suspension, granting it a total of 250 mm of ground clearance. This makes it even more capable than the previous iteration when it comes to effortlessly traversing rough terrain. Off road drivers will also benefit from another addition; new performance front brake discs, which have been tuned for improved stopping power.
