New Suzuki Swace to hit Europe

Added: 14 October 2020

A new Suzuki has arrived in Europe. It is the Swace, a hybrid estate car similar to the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports. This car will go on sale in Europe within the next couple of months. The hybrid system meshes an electric motor with a 1.8-litre petrol engine that is designed specifically for hybrid systems. This engine combines a 97bhp four-cylinder petrol engine with a 71bhp electric motor using a CVT automatic transmission.

It gives off powerful acceleration, unrivaled fuel economy and offers low emissions. Depending on the particular driving situation, you can use the hybrid system to drive the motor of the Swace or you can use the engine. That is the beauty of driving a hybrid vehicle.

The Swace comes with an EV drive mode function, which makes driving solely by its motor powered by the battery. The hybrid engine produces 99 to 115g/m of CO2 on the WLTP cycle, do you do not have to worry about your leaving a big carbon footprint when you use this car. This is great for driving short distances. You do not have to concern yourself with loud noise or emissions. If you drive in a highly residential area at the wee hours of the morning, this is the perfect car for you.

You can expect the car to go from zero to 62 miles per hour in 11 seconds. The highest speed it can reach is 111 miles per hour. The power output is not yet confirmed, but if it is anything like the Corolla, it may be close to 120bhp.

There are also exterior updates that make the Swace a sleeker car than before. Though there are some hard-to-miss similarities between the exterior of the Swace and the Corolla, there are some things that set the Swace a part. Take for example the grille. That is specific to Suzuki no matter what.

On the inside though, these cars are very similar. They have a very similar dashboard layout as well as a seats-up rear luggage capacity of 596 litres. The one thing that is different is the new steering wheel. You can also expect an updated infotainment system in the new Suzuki. There lies an eight-inch touchscreen that supports Andriod Autio and Apple CarPlay as well as wireless smartphone charging.

The Swace will likely be very affordable, its price point likely starting out at £27,000. This price is very close to that of the Corolla Touring Sports. This new model will also be assembled at the UK Toyota factory in Burnaston, Derbyshire alongside the Corolla.

This car is a great option if you are looking for a hybrid car but do not want to spend the hybrid car money. It is very affordable and easy to take care of. Make sure that you go to an official local dealer, that way you do not have to worry about your car having any surprise issues. The dealership should be able to service your car as well as provide MOT testing.
