Is Suzuki Vitara a 4x4
Added: 18 March 2019
The Suzuki Vitara is a compact and inexpensive 4x4 that has been designed from the ground up to be an affordable, inexpensive and incredibly practical SUV that does what it’s supposed to. There are no major thrills, bells or whistles involved in the development of the Suzuki Vitara–and that’s exactly what Suzuki wanted to achieve.
Coming at around £16,999, the Suzuki Vitara is arguably the most affordable and best-value 4x4 SUV at this price point. While the original Vitara was a small and rugged vehicle that had a utilitarian purpose, the new Suzuki Vitara is more like a budget SUV with excellent features while coming in at a price similar to popular hatchbacks. This offered consumers a very enticing choice; do you go with typical budget vehicles or do you spend a little more and get something that looks arguably quite dull but offers far more practicality?
Driving the Suzuki Vitara
As far as 4x4 vehicles go, the Suzuki Vitara is hardly going to win any awards due to its 1.0-litre or 1.4-litre engine. At best, you’ll be experiencing speeds of 109bhp for the 1.0-litre variety and 138bhp for the 1.4-litre unit.
You typically don’t purchase a 4x4 SUV at this price range for the power so the slower 1.0-litre does seem like the smarter option, but if you’ll be taking the Suzuki Vitara on motorways on a regular basis then the 1.4-litre unit may be worth the extra added cost. You also have a choice of picking the performance-stumping automatic gearbox or the manual variety which gives you more control over the vehicle.
The ride on the Suzuki Vitara is surprisingly good. While bumps and dips in the road may cause a thud, you won’t feel like you’re being flung around the vehicle and instead, it will feel like just a small bump that isn’t strong enough to disrupt your driving. It doesn’t get uncomfortable even during long driving situations and it’s suitable for both countryside highways and inter-city travel. While it’s nothing to praise over other similar vehicles, it’s surprisingly pleasant to drive the Suzuki Vitara despite its price.
There’s also plenty of space inside of the Suzuki Vitara. For legroom you’re not going to have a problem and there’s plenty of space for holding accessories such as your phone or charging your devices. There’s plenty of legroom in the back as well and there’s a nice amount of space in the boot to hold whatever you need to.
The Final Verdict
The Suzuki Vitara is definitely in a sweet spot in terms of price and performance. There are more expensive 4x4 SUVs on the market that do offer more features, but the Suzuki Vitara is worth every penny and is the small SUV package that many have been searching for. It’s a capable, practical and spacious little vehicle that is fantastic value for money, but you won’t have much luck reselling it in the future due to its low price and the cost can quickly ramp up as you change the engine and add unique trims.
