What’s New with the 2018 Suzuki Ignis Adventure?

Added: 08 March 2018

The word adventure conjures visions of trips, snow-capped mountains and courageous explorations, however it’s not normally a word used to describe a two-wheel drive SUV city car. Suzuki though have thrown away the rule book and called their latest limited-edition version of the Suzuki Ignis the ‘Adventure’.

With its foundations based on the SZ-T trim, the Adventure comes with a reversing camera, 16inch alloys and roof rails – but added Adventure bonuses are a rear spoiler, side stripes, front and rear skidplates and coloured front foglight bezels to give it a more fearsome appearance.

It’s worth noting, especially if you’re interested in a PCP deal, that these extra cosmetics are worth £1900, but Suzuki are throwing them in for £1000 over the price you’d pay for the standard SZ-T.

What’s the 2018 Suzuki Ignis Adventure like out on the road?

The name would suggest that the new Ignis Adventure is best suited to the off-road, this isn’t the case though as to really enjoy this Ignis your adventures are best kept on the roads.

Mechanically, there are no differences to this version of the Ignis than there are to the SZ-T model it is based on. This means you still get a amiable 1.2-litre engine that will give you nippy acceleration and a decent amount of low-rev pull to keep gear changes at a minimum.

Generally it’s a quiet engine, especially at low revs – this isn’t to say that doesn’t enjoy being revved though, as it’s suitably powered for town use and won’t leave you feeling like you need more power.

The overall ride is set-up to be soft so this makes for a comfortable place to sit when going over the dips and bumps in the roads.

How’s the 2018 Suzuki Ignis Adventure Interior?

The interior is pretty much like for like of the SZ-T model, so you won’t be able to tell the difference between that and the Adventure.

That’s not to say it’s bad thing, because the Ignis interior has an impressive spec that would be hard to upgrade further. It’s a cozy interior that has air conditioning, a touchscreen infotainment system that features a reversing camera, a DAB radio and Bluetooth.

Space is another surprising feature of the Ignis Adventure as you’ll find four adults will fit comfortably inside – it’s worth noting though that the Adventure does only have four seats, if you want a five seater then you’ll need the entry-level SZ3 model.

Should you buy a 2018 Suzuki Ignis Adventure then?

The Ignis in itself is a great small SUV, but with the added cosmetic extras, the Adventure version is worth parting with another £1000 on top of what you’d pay for the SZ-T model. On a PCP deal for three years the difference works out to around £27 a month too.
